Our Review
Everyone should get to experience the perfection that is a summer evening at Tanglewood. The Boston Symphony Orchestra’s summer home is located in Lenox, Massachusetts. Spend the entire day on Tanglewood’s campus, exploring the sculptures and gardens.
Annual pilgrimages are made by musicians James Taylor and Yo Yo Ma, who sell out the main Shed each year. Each season the artist line up is a great balance of new and classic offerings. One of Tanglewood’s long established traditions is a John Williams’ Film Night. John Williams himself guest conducts the BSO for a few pieces throughout the night.
With generous student, family, and senior discounts, this venue draws a diverse crowd. Lawn seating is free for 17 and under, university students get a 50% discount on BSO Friday-evening lawn— and lawn seating is where it’s at. Pack a shmorgishborg to enjoy on a blanket under the stars. Lawn attendees can enjoy a BYOB option, making this a potentially budget friendly evening.
Enjoy the convenience and deliciousness of the offerings from the two casual dining options on site: Tanglewood Café and the Tanglewood Grille featuring Taste of the Berkshires with offerings from local favorite restaurants. Wet your whistle with a solid selection of local brews at the craft beer garden. Save room for a scoop of SoCo’s super-premium, all-natural ice cream made from scratch at its factory in Great Barrington.
