Our Review

Bizen is frequently called “the best sushi in western Massachusetts” by those who venture into the restaurant—and for a handful of great reasons! The Japanese cuisine is fresh, flavorful, vibrant, and authentic with an immaculate presentation. It’s tucked into a popular Great Barrington shopping area, Railroad Street, and is encompassed by a variety of eateries, stores, and even a movie theater. While they serve a handful of delicious appetizers, soups, salads, lunches, dinners, and more, Bizen consistently excels at sushi. Alternatively, the Kaiseki (traditional Japanese multi-course meal and its perfected preparation) options are a hit, but are only served Wednesday through Sunday.

The decor in Bizen captures the beauty of Japanese culture and blends it with the vibe of south county. Overall, the whole place is really comfortable and enjoyable to be in. Additionally, a private dining area inside acts as a catalyst for a tranquil meal in an intimate setting.

As mentioned, this restaurant and sushi bar combo is placed on Railroad Street. Prior to, or after, dining it’s nice to walk around and explore the different stops along the way. This road is off of Main St.—which has an even greater assortment of shopping and dining options—so there is no shortage of places to roam around.
