Our Review

Located in the heart of the Berkshires, Rouge has a couple of awards to its name for its service. The menu offered here can only be described as a blend of French influences mixed with American traditional cuisine. Rouge welcomes in artistic crowds, families, and groups. The setting allows a crowd as well as a much more intimate sitting arrangement. Their wine list has a vast choice to pick from and the desserts are not to be easily passed by. Pick this bistro for a Friday night out for drinks with friends and order some tapas whilst you’re at it.

A popular must-try is the Duck Confit which you may also try as the mushroom and garlic confit. The mussels and escargot brochettes or braised duck with the Orvieto red wine are a perfect combination that you should sample just once. The Rouge allows reservations if you’re looking to hosting a private event. If you prefer a more formal dining experience do opt for the dining hall. Do keep in mind, however, that the tapas menu is only available for those who chose the bar tables to dine. So if you still want to order appetizers after, you might want to sit in the dining hall area.

About 3.8 miles from Rouge, you’ll find a place called Naumkeag where there is a wonderful display of Halloween displays, Christmas lights and others depending which time of the year you visit. This estate has a gilded age style and is well-known for its elegant gardens and rare-type Berkshire cottage. Charles H Baldwin & Sons is a family store where you can purchase extracts for your cooking. This means certain commodities like vanilla, sprinkles and even spices among others can be found here. It’s an odd store that you won’t come across popular and well worth a visit.
