Housatonic

About

Housatonic is a village within the town of Great Barrington. It sits along the northern border and is home to a few local gems, including the Housatonic River that flows directly through the village (and is the namesake of the town). It’s been around since the 1800’s, and was filled with both textile and paper mills. Some of which are even registered on the National Register of Historic Places.

Now, the area has been populated with delicious eateries—including Berkshire Mountain Bakery—shops, and art galleries. The village faces the back end of Monument Mountain and has a few places to walk and hike as well. There’s a nice blend of suburban and rural ambiances in Housatonic.
