Our Review

The most stunning example of natural erosion in New England is found in North Adams, Massachusetts. Natural Bridge State Park is home to the only natural white marble arches in North America. The remarkable white marble archway spans the 60 foot gorge of the Hudson Brook Chasm, where water happily churns through the nooks and crannies.

Melting glacial waters formed the 550 million-year-old bedrock into it’s striking natural shape over 13,000 years ago. Trails are an easy grade and only take fifteen to twenty minutes to complete. The woodland trails and babbling waterfalls make for a meditative stroll around the park. Mass MOCA sponsors an art installation at the abandoned marble quarry where a daily 15 minute sound installation plays at sunset.

Picnic tables and the brevity of the trails make this park a perfect rest-stop for road trippers to stop, stretch their legs, and have a quick bite.
