Our Review

The Wainwright Inn is saturated in rich and authentic Berkshire County culture. It is known by those who live in the area as a local landmark—located conveniently on Rt 7 in Great Barrington.

The story of the inn begins in 1766, when Captain Peter Ingersoll started constructing the main building. Once completed, colonists would meet in the very same rooms that remain intact today. Moreover, the house provided a space for colonial armory and was used as a fort throughout the American Revolution. The house now serves as a bed and breakfast, with diverse and elegant rooms (with a delicious menu and sunny dining area), creating a comfortable and homely atmosphere. Many guests praise the charming wraparound porches that offer views of the main road and the eclectic collection of surrounding local business. If you’re looking for a place to lodge on your Berkshire getaway, this inn has a deeply historic vibe and is placed right on a main road, so many attractions are nearby.
